Short video ads that actually convert
By Mara Velde · September 18, 2026 · 6 min read

Hooks, pacing and proof: what the best-performing short video ads have in common.
Most short video ads fail in the first second. Not because the product is wrong, but because nothing in that first frame gives anyone a reason to stay.
Lead with the outcome
Open on the result, not the setup. A finished room, a clear complexion, a full inbox at zero. Then show how you got there.
Cut every half-second you can
Pacing beats polish. Trim pauses, jump cut between steps and keep the product on screen or in hand for most of the clip.
Proof in the middle, offer at the end
Social proof works best once attention is earned. Put reviews and numbers in the middle third and save the offer for the last few seconds.
